How does it work?
With traditional dial-up methods, the text and graphics that
make up web pages get sent from the server to you over your
phone
line. Because of the large amount of data required to be sent,
this process can be painfully slow. PRW TurboWeb’s Accelerator
compresses this data using a proprietary technology, and sends
it over your existing dialup phone line. This compression process
allows a smaller amount of data to be sent – up to six
times less – making the download time of your web pages
and your online experience that much faster. As an added download
time reducer, PRW TurboWeb’s Accelerator stores elements
of the web sites you visit frequently, eliminating the need to
re-download them every time you visit these sites.
What gets accelerated?
To achieve the fastest web and email acceleration available, proprietary
lossless compression is applied to text, html, xml, javascript
and style sheets. Proprietary image compression is applied
to gif images, jpeg images and Flash content. PRW TurboWeb also
accelerates
email traffic, and is compatible with any POP3/SMTP client,
including Outlook Express, Eudora and Netscape Mail. PRW TurboWeb
Accelerator
will not currently accelerate file downloads such as music
files, or streaming video or audio media nor does it accelerate
encrypted (https) sites..
PRW TurboWeb Accelerator also offers additional value-added
services to speeding up your web and email usage:
•Pop-Up Blocker - block annoying pop-up
advertisements while surfing! PRW TurboWeb Accelerator can
prevent pop-up windows and floating flash advertisements from
appearing while you browse the Internet. This feature is enabled
by default, and no user-intervention is required. However,
you can also easily disable this features at any time. PRW
TurboWeb Accelerator allows you to specify a "White List" of
sites where pop-ups will not be blocked and you can also see
a list of all pop-ups that were blocked.

•Banner-Ad Blocking - Stop the ads,
and surf faster! PRW TurboWeb Accelerator can block many graphical
advertisements that appear on web pages (i.e. ad banners).
Enabling this feature will prevent these ads from being downloaded
and displayed in your browser, reducing download time.

What do I need?
PRW TurboWeb Accelerator offers the most extensive
compatibility. PRW TurboWeb works seamlessly with Internet
Explorer 4.0 (or later) and Netscape Communicator 6.0 (or later),
as well as any other web browser that allows you to specify
an HTTP proxy. (Consult your browser's documentation for additional
information.) PRW TurboWeb supports Windows (95/98, ME, 2000, NT, and
XP) as well as MAC OS-X and PDAs – The recommended system
requirements are a Pentium PC 200MHz with 64MB of RAM and
at least 5 MB of hard-disk space. On a Macintosh computer, a PowerPC
G3 processor with OS X 10.2 (or later) with 333Mhz and 128MB RAM and
6 MB of hard drivespace is the minimum requirement.
